The Regional Press Awards for 2011

RPA 2011

THE Regional Press Awards celebrate the best of British regional newspaper journalism.

The Society of Editors Regional Press Awards for 2011 judged the work of regional and local newspapers published between 1 January and 31 December 2011.

The Regional Press Awards are organised on behalf of the industry by the Society of Editors with the support of the Newspaper Society. Revenue is generated by entry fees, table sales and sponsorship. The surplus is donated to the Journalists’ Charity.

Bob Satchwell, executive director of the SoE, oversees the awards.

The awards process celebrates the quality, diversity and success of regional newspaper journalism in the country.

Alongside the National Press Awards the Regional Press Awards process culminates in the most prestigious event in the industry's calendar, the Awards Ceremony where winners and their editors and colleagues celebrate in style among their peers.

The Society of Editors represents more than 400 members in national, regional and local newspapers, magazines, broadcasting, digital media, media law and journalism education and campaigns for media freedom, freedom of expression and the public’s right to know.
